Spay & Neuter

The Wisconsin Humane Society offers high-quality spay/neuter services for the public at affordable rates. Programs vary by location and the type of animal you are seeking services for. Please use our guide below to determine which service is right for you.

Which spay/neuter program is right for you?

In order to determine the program appropriate for your situation, start by answering the following questions, then find the right service in the chart below:

  • Do you consider yourself to be the owner of this animal?
If you consider yourself this animal’s owner and they’re your pet, look for “owned” on the chart below.
If you do not consider yourself to be the animal’s owner because they are a stray, feral, or community cat that you are trying to help, look for “unowned” in the chart below.
  • Do you qualify for our income-based program?
If you receive unemployment, social security, food assistance, or any of the other qualifying criteria found here, look for “yes” in the Income-based Rate column on the chart below.
If you do not qualify, look for “no.”
  • Will your cat be ear-tipped during their surgery?
All outdoor cats – whether they’re owned or unowned – will be ear-tipped at the time of their TNR or Barn Cat surgery. This small notch in the tip of their ear indicates that the animal has already been spayed or neutered. It is a painless procedure that occurs while they’re under anesthesia and heals very quickly.
